Vectorized Caffeine
“Caffeine is a powerful, potent antioxidant. Vectorized caffeine is the result of new cosmetic manufacturing processes that allow caffeine to more readily permeate skin barriers.”
Caffeine is becoming increasingly common in cosmetics due to its high biological activity and ability to effectively penetrate skin barriers. Commercially available and topical formulations of caffeine typically contain less than 3% caffeine (1).
Vectorized caffeine can be included in a higher concentration of 3.5% without adding alcohol. It is extracted naturally from green coffee beans and vectorized by a phospholipid-based complex. Phospholipids are formulated as a carrier to enhance solubility and permeability in cosmetic applications (2).
This technology enables improved efficacy in treating the appearance of dark circles, under-eye bags, redness, irritation, and puffiness. Vectorized caffeine stimulates microcirculation and is often included in anti-aging or anti-cellulite formulas. It is completely safe for topical use.
Caffeine stimulates the degradation of fats during a process called lipolysis. During this process, fats are broken down in our bodies (including skin) through enzymatic reactions or hydrolysis. Caffeine can target fat cells without invasive laser or injection lipolysis. Vectorized caffeine is a natural lipolytic agent, used for its slimming or draining function as a result of improved fat oxidation and lipolysis (3).
