ADENOSINE
“Adenosine, a skin cell metabolism booster, repairs and energizes the skin’s surface, giving proven anti-wrinkle benefits for a smoother, younger appearance.“
What is Adenosine?
Adenosine, or adenosine triphosphate (ATP), is a naturally occurring substance in the body. ATP, sometimes known as the energy molecule. Adenosine plays an essential role in the metabolic process.
Recently Adenosine has been applied to skincare as it was found that it can offer a more youthful complexion by stimulating collagen production in the skin (1). Its usage in cosmetics however is quite recent. Due to its collagen-boosting actions, studies have demonstrated considerable gains in skin repair, hydration, and the reduction of wrinkles.
What does Adenosine do?
The purpose of adenosine is to supply energy to living cells. It stimulates collagen in skin care products, promoting tissue healing as well as increased firmness and suppleness. When adenosine permeates the skin it can improve complexion and youthfulness significantly, according to a 2018 study (2). When middle-aged women added adenosine to their skin care regimen, the look of wrinkles and overall moisture content improved significantly.
Adenosine’s therapeutic effects have also been highlighted. A 2019 study discovered that adenosine was useful for tissue damage and dramatically accelerated wound healing.
